Intellectual craftsmanship in difficult times

Abstract

In keeping with the collaborative spirit announced by Mills, in early November 2019, in Santiago and under the auspices of the Social Theory Nucleus of the UDP, I organized, together with Rodrigo Cordero, a research colloquium dedicated to thinking about the 60 years of The Sociological Imagination. The central idea was that a variety of sociologists would have the possibility to present papers reflecting on the intellectual craftsmanship that was at the basis of their sociological work. The invitation was to explore the supposedly trivial elements that to a large extent made possible the elaboration of more polished and sophisticated intellectual projects.
