This paper focuses on the traditional distinction between community and society, which has been fundamental in the analysis of the communal phenomenon. Its main aim is to reexamine this dichotomy in the current context, seeking to comprehend the political role of the communal notion through a dynamic and ever-changing perspective. The presence of “the communal'' is approached from various angles, exploring how it challenges conventional definitions and reacts to marginalization and social exclusion, transcending established identity frameworks. Due to the inherent com-plexity of the phenomenon, this approach highlights the importance of analyzing the communal event and its significance in research. Thus, this work aims to contribute to a critical reinterpretation of the relationship between community and society for a deeper understanding of current po-litical and social dynamics.
