The paper addresses the limits and potentialities of biography, in particular, when it is used as a research strategy in social sciences. General aspects of the writing of the biographies are treated from the perspective proposed by De Man and the deconstructive view. These aspects are then exemplified by an investigation about the life trajectories of indigenous intellectual women. Third, the human ability to tell life stories is addressed as an advantage that the social sciences have. Finally, it is proposed that the writing of a life requires of a deconstructive reading.
