Collective sociological imagination, October 18, Accelerated politicizationAbstract
This paper, written during the mobilizations started on October 18, asserts that they can be interpreted as an exercise of “collective sociological imagination.” This is as a form of articulation between the personal biographies of the protesters and supporters, the recent history of the country and the imputation of the sufferings and abuses to the social structure. The outbreak would have stimulated different processes: an empowerment of mobilized citizens, an accelerated politicization of society and the denaturalization of the social order. Finally, a reflection on the role of sociology in this scenario is proposed.
