The objective of this paper is to examine the contributions of the sociological imagination to contemporary gender theory in four specific dimensions of sociological work: politics, theory, methodology and practice. For each of these dimensions the main tenets of C. Wright Mills are analyzed, then discussing the way these claims have influenced contemporary gender theory. I propose that examining this link can lead us to think about feminist intellectual craftsmanship in terms of a research practice. For this, in the last section some elements of decolonial epistemology are discussed and it is argued that these can help to think about how to do social research in times of social revolt.
