Abstract

Robert Fine passed away last June. Emeritus Professor of Sociology at the University of Warwick, where he worked between 1973 and 2012, in 1995 he founded its Centre for Social Theory and was Head of the Department of Sociology between 2002 and 2006. Fine was one of the most original thinkers in the Anglo-Saxon critical social theory tradition of the last 30 years. Chernilo's text reviews the main features of Fine's thought and its contemporary relevance.
