With the intention of showing the differences between a classical sociological gaze and a deconstructive gaze of being-with-others, this text addresses the problem of hospitality (understood as a non-destructive bond towards the other who arrives). This is done through a dialogue between Jacques Derrida's philosophical reflections on hospitality and George Simmel's sociological perspective, which underlies the well-known "Digression on the Stranger".
