I thank Rafael Alvear and Jordi Mundó for their very careful reading of my article; their sharp observations allow me to clarify some of my own. My commitment to the editors is to write a brief response, and so I will concentrate on the methodological dimension on which both colleagues question me - in a question that also underlies Rodrigo Cordero's and Francisco Salinas' introduction to this issue of Cuadernos: How does one do philosophical sociology?
