This paper aims to analyze the impact of the media, particularly television, not only on the perceptions and representations of Haitian migrants in public and digital spaces, but also on intercultural interactions. From the analysis of two cases of media coverage of news involving Haitian migrants, we argue that the frames present in both cases have perpetuated anti-black racism and anti-immigrant discourse in the population, both in public and digital spaces in Chile. In turn, this study reveals that the controversy generated by some events in public opinion has contributed to the establishment of new measures and changes in news frames, which we hope will continue to move forward in communicating from a human rights approach and thus move away from the reproduction of racialized representations of Haitian migrants in Chile.
